Unlike split systems, where heating and cooling units are separated indoors and out, packaged units perform both functions in a "single package." Depending on structural limitations and available space, packaged systems can be installed on the roof, at ground level, or in the attic. Still, all packaged systems are not alike.

A NuTone packaged heating and cooling system with variable-speed blower provides extra efficiency, reliability and comfort. GE's patented ECMTM variable-speed technology, is the most-advanced and efficient blower motor design today. Unlike the abrupt start/stop cycles of a conventional induction motor, a variable-speed unit ramps up to speed gradually to eliminate the usual discomforts of wind blasts, and noise.

Employing patented GE ECMTM variable-speed technology, the blower delivers constant air flow thanks to a programmable electronic controller. It adjusts in real time to meet capacity automatically compensating for reduced duct volume, dirty air filters, zoning changes, obstructed supply register, etc. So the entire system functions more efficiently for more-even temperatures, better indoor air quality, precise humidity control and reduced energy consumption.

Two Stages of Operation

Two-stage operation means the unit can operate at a reduced capacity on mild days and full capacity on harsher ones: It's like having two systems in one. And because of the lower capacity, this unit operates more quietly and provides greater comfort.
